May be. I just took a look at the given webpage. There seems to be a flaw on the cover. A pawn on e5 and one on e7. Well okay, perhaps Everyman just shuffles the pawns on their books. When I first started playing chess, 1e5 was the only way I know how to respond to 1. e4. After a couple months I stopped play e5 entirely. I felt like it gave white alot of initiative and I hate going into the very symmetrically Italian Game. Also I found that going on later in the game I would have trouble  1e5 or 1c5 against 1.e4? - Chess.com
Nbd7 not only supports those moves but prevents White from setting up a N- Outpost at c5 or e5? You should understand . If the question is whether to play1 e5 or 1 c5 as an answer to 1. e4 I would say get experience with both and find out what you like. I would say that it First Steps: The Modern
